Fourth, look at the number of warmers the machine has. This, however, is only available on regular brewers, with options ranging from 1 to 6 warmers.

Fifth, does it have a hot water faucet? Such a feature can be found on regular, airpot and thermal brewers. Pourover machines lack this option. This feature is standard for the bigger brewers such as Satellite and Urn.

Sixth, look for the Digital Brewer Control feature in those coffee making models with DBC in their model name. Coffee Origins Indonesia

Coffee is grown in many parts of the world. Each of these origin coffees will have the unique characteristics based on climate, soil, agriculture and processing. The Indonesian countries that produce coffee are: Sumatra, Sulawesi, East Timor, Papua New Guinea and Java. Indonesia is the third largest coffee producing region in the world. However, these regions only cultivate a small portion of arabica beans and are highly sought after.

Sumatra is probably the best known of the Indonesian coffees. Coffee has been produced in Sumatra since the 1700s. There is little regional distinction between coffees produced in different areas of Sumatra, so coffees sold as Estate coffees (from a particular farm) are rare. These are mostly wet processed coffees, which means the fresh fruit pulp is washed from the outside of the coffee bean, rather than allowed to dry and then be removed. Sumatran coffees can be roasted medium-dark to dark. Medium-dark will reveal the best flavors from the beans, although dark roast is more commonly seen. This coffee has a rich flavor, full body and wonderful aroma with spicy undertones. In medium-dark roasts, a nutty aroma and flavor comes through.

Sulawesi beans, which are sometimes referred to by the Colonial name Celebes, are very similar to Sumatra beans. They have very earthy notes and low acidity. Sulawesi coffees are also prized for their syrupy notes. There are some Sulawesi beans which are held as green beans for a very long time and marketed as aged Sulawesi. These unusual coffees have a stronger earth note to them, with an underlying muskiness.

East Timor is a small island located between Sulawesi and Australia. Coffee production is the most important economy of East Timor, especially since the country gained independence in 1999. Many of the coffees from this island are organic coffees and most are processed by the wet method. This coffee has the familiar Indonesian earthy, rich flavor. Spicy notes of sweet cinnamon and mild acidity make this a fine coffee.

Papua New Guinea is on the eastern half of Indonesia. Coffees from Papua New Guinea are different than others in Indonesia. They are often called a ‘wild coffee’. They have fewer of the distinctive earthy tones found in many Indonesian coffees. Papua New Guinea coffees are processed by the wet method. There are also many estate coffees from Papua New Guinea and each have their own special characteristics. Common threads in these coffees are: fruity tones, lower acidity and well-rounded body. Many coffees from Papua New Guinea are also organically grown.

Java is located east of Jakarta. The government of Java actually controls about 80% of the coffee grown in East Java and is its own Estate coffee. It is a wet processed coffee. Java is usually blended with another coffee to make Mocha Java, which isn’t chocolate like the name implies, but the region (Mokka) where the other bean comes from. Java beans have a cleaner flavor than either the Sumatra or Sulawesi. They have a lighter body and slightly more acidity than other Indonesians.

Coffee CAN Be Healthy

Most studies you will read about today tell how coffee can be harmful to you. But did you know that no other American liquid drink contains more healthy antioxidants than coffee? And did you also know that drinking coffee may reduce the risk of developing of the common type-2 diabetes? And did you also know that coffee drinkers may be far less likely to develop Parkinson’s disease, cirrhosis of the liver, and colon cancer?

These findings are all based on studies performed at such prestigious universities as Harvard and Vanderbilt. Other studies have been done in Japan, Canada, Holland, and other countries. Many schools participate in research of all foods, to discover antioxidants and how certain foods may help combat disease. Tea is one food used to a large degree, so it necessarily follows that coffee can also be studied as well. In fact, close to 20,000 studies have been done world-wide for the last several years, on finding the benefits of coffee.

As you can guess, the most closely scrutinized ingredient of coffee is caffeine. Caffeine is used in many over-the-counter medicines today, to help with headaches, asthma, and other ailments. But it has been discovered that caffeine can also help with Parkinson?s disease, for example. Moreover, caffeine derivatives are being tested as drugs to possibly help control Parkinson?s.

Coffee is extremely rich with caffeine, possibly four more times than that of other beverages such as cola or tea. But coffee itself is also laden with antioxidants, according to studies done at Harvard. These studies have also shown that decaf coffee demonstrated a reduced risk to diabetes among normal adults, even a lower risk than tea offers. And coffee with caffeine showed an even higher reduction of risk, compared to decaf. Studies done at the University of Scranton have also shown that coffee contains more antioxidants than the average fruit or vegetable.

Another study was done in Japan that demonstrated that daily coffee drinkers showed a reduced risk of developing liver cancer, by as much as 50%, over those people who never drank coffee. This and most of the other studies showed that drinking three to four cups a day was more effective against these diseases, than drinking one or two cups a day.

So does that mean you can drink five or six cups of coffee and eliminate fruits and vegetables from your diet and therefore become immune to all disease? Of course not. Fruits and veggies overall contain many more vitamins, minerals, and nutrients than coffee, and so should not be neglected from any diet. Also they contain fiber, which is essential for good nutrition. Eat your fruits and veggies.

Also, coffee has the caveat that it can raise your cholesterol, make you nervous, make you tremble, raise your heart rate, clog your arteries, and other problems. And research is still going on to discover the benefits of antioxidants, and with coffee in general.

But for sure, if you drink coffee and it doesn?t affect your life any, then feel free to continue and enjoy your habit. In the long run, it may prove more beneficial than you think.

Coffee Shop Diners a thing of the past? Nah! Drive down US Route 40 or Route 66 through America, and you?ll see gleaming, stainless steel diners in almost every town and city. These restaurants may seem like a relic of a bygone era, but they almost always have cars outside and people inside.

Coffee Storage Keep It Fresh!

There is nothing like the taste of Fresh Roasted Coffee. Coffee will slowly lose its freshness because of time, exposure to air, moisture, heat, and light. Atlantic Tropical Hurricane Season Could Cause Higher Coffee Prices

This Atlantic Tropical Hurricane Season looks to be a pretty tough year, but not only for the United States of America and our coastline. Think of all the deaths, which will be lost in the Caribbean and Central America. And if all that sounds too far away for you why not go to the kitchen and look at your coffee supply?

Coffee crops in these regions could be in for severe flooding and a ruined crop this year and that would cause World Coffee Prices to go up, as coffee like sweet crude oil is definitely a commodity and it is very much affected by the weather. Many commodities are and coffee is too.

Last year coffee prices rose for a bit and then slipped back into reason, but can we expect the same this year, or will we find coffee prices like that other black liquid we are enslaved too skyrocket? We know all too well what happened last year when Hurricane Katrina slammed into the Gulf Coast and they are just barely rebuilding now.

We saw as oil futures soared to record highs and at the pumps; sticker shock indeed. Coffee could also do this. And you like your car or SUV also need human go-go juice and that means coffee in the morning and you will have to pay the price because as it stands now in your hectic life you cannot get along without it.
